"Adopt" a book and enjoy Lake Balaton together!
Have you ever realized in the middle of your holiday that you’d love to relax with a good book on the beach? If that’s the case but you didn’t bring any reading material with you, I have a fantastic tip for you! Along Margó Ede promenade, next to the pier, there’s a fantastic second-hand bookstall where you can find real treasures for just a few forints.
Imagine this: you can get your hands on books in Hungarian, English, German, or even French (or Polish!). Whether you’re looking for children’s books, novels for adults, cookbooks, or thrilling crime stories, you’ll surely find something enchanting here. Additionally, by saving an antique book printed in the 1800s, you’re not only acquiring a valuable piece but also a fragment of history.
Why is it worth buying here?
- You support book rescue: with every purchase, you contribute to giving these books a new life, preventing them from being lost to time.
- Environmentally friendly choice: reusing second-hand books is an eco-friendly solution that reduces our ecological footprint.
- Unique experience: flipping through the pages of an old book gives you a special feeling, as if you’re uncovering a hidden treasure.
And here’s the best part: if you decide not to take the book home at the end of your holiday, leave it in the apartment! This way, other holidaymakers can also enjoy the story you read. We can create a sort of community library where the joy of reading is shared.
Reading in Any Weather!
It’s not just on the beach that a good book comes in handy; it’s also great to have one when the weather suddenly turns bad. When the skies open up and you retreat to the safety of your apartment from the storm, there’s nothing better than curling up and immersing yourself in a captivating story. This way, not even the weather can dampen your spirits, as a good book is always a perfect companion for every moment of your holiday.
Where to find the bookstall?
This delightful stall is only open during the high season, from about mid-June to the end of August, located on Margó Ede promenade, next to the pier. I’ve marked the location on the map for you. We can’t pass by without buying something. Last time, I picked up a P.G. Wodehouse book to brush up on my English…
